Once your learner’s license is ready, you will appear for a test at the RTO office where your assessment on driving and a written test is conducted. Given that you have cleared this test you are now eligible for a permanent Driving License.

Below are the 10 simple steps for you to online apply for a DL

Step 1

To begin with, visit the site of Sarthi Parivahan- https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/

Click on the link above and you will be directed to the site.

Step 2

Select the State for applying for the licence. We suggest you select the state of your residence.

Step 3

You will be redirected to a new screen. Click on the “Apply Online” option on the left and select the “New Driving License” from the drop-down.

Once completed,you will get the below screen after Step 3.

Now you need to select from either option of “ Holding Learner’s License/ Holding Foreign DL/ Holding Defence License”. 

Finally, enter the details of the DOB in the DD-MM-YYYY format.

Once selected the option above click on “Ok”.

Step 6

You are halfway there now. Hold on. It’s about to finish now.

On a new page, you have to enter your details.

Step 7

As soon as you enter details, you have to upload all the supporting documents like identity proof, address proof and age proof.

Upload a nice passport size photograph and your signatures. Meanwhile keep your scan copies handy for both.

Step 9

Now that all the documents are submitted. Additionally, you are asked to select the timing for your DL appointment. Henceforth, select a convenient date and the time as per your availability to ensure that you reach the RTO department timely for the driver’s license test.

Step 10

Great work to finish all these steps. You are almost done now.

Finally, make the payment and submit your driving licence application form. Your application is therefore now submitted to the RTO.

Additionally, take some time to review your form before submitting it. Make sure the information is correct and accurate. Thereupon, you can submit the online form by clicking on ‘Submit’.

Once your form is submitted, an auto-generated Web Application Number will start appearing on the screen which you should note for future reference.
